Scope of Work
LitWorld is seeking a Program Coordinator to work with the Programming Team to support the expansion and development of our LitClub and LitCamp programs around the world. LitClubs provide safe spaces for children and adults to come together, learn, grow, and develop the tools they need to share their own stories. Our LitClubs and LitCamps are run in partnership with grassroots organizations who are embedded in their communities and can help best address constituent needs. Together we support literacy learning by engaging children with quality reading and writing material and continually using positive reinforcement to support their social-emotional development. Focusing on building self-confidence, promoting leadership, and strengthening children and their communities, this position will support the Programming Team in systems and structures that will further the work of LitWorld’s programs and operations. Success in this role requires excellent attention to detail, strong strategic thinking skills, an ability to build meaningful relationships, to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and joyful environment.
Successful candidates will be passionate about working with a highly collaborative and fast-paced team and keeping close track of details in supporting programs that use story telling as a tool for self-empowerment and advocacy. The Program Coordinator must be highly organized and prepared to support a global team build on strong relationships with local organizations working in a broad range of circumstances across the globe. S/he must possess exceptional written and oral communication skills, as well as the excellent interpersonal communication skills necessary to ensure that LitWorld programs and partnerships are nourished.
Areas of Responsibilities
Supports the operations of LitWorld's programs and partnerships by leading regular check-ins with partner organizations, conducting training sessions for local program leaders, ensuring project timelines are upheld, and helping to plan trips to LitWorld’s programming locations
Monitor and support the growth and development of a group of partner organizations (please indicate if you have work experience in a specific region)
Supports budget planning and strategic thinking for a group of partners
Collects data and anecdotes to support LitWorld’s ongoing assessment protocols and effectively share stories from the field and oversees programming data collection process overall
Assists Program Directors with planning, preparation and execution of LitWorld advocacy days including local Story Summits, World Read Aloud Day and Stand Up for Girls
Work closely with the Program Development team to create and implement program and trainings
Help provide overall program administrative support
Curriculum & Writing:
Collaborates with LitWorld programming staff to develop and revise new and existing curriculum with special emphasis on integrating art and visual storytelling
- Supports LitWorld programming staff in piloting new curriculum in the field
- Assists with research and writing projects including articles, blogs, proposals and special projects to creatively tell the LitWorld story
Supports the day-to-day operations of LitWorld by maintaining a clean office space, running errands and executing clerical tasks
- Supports planning, preparation, execution of LitWorld’s major events (including the Spring Fundraiser, the Annual Appeal and major advocacy days)
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, International Development or a relevant field
At least 3+ years world experience with education, literacy, or social emotional programs
Strong background in youth development and social justice
Familiarity with popular education principles and methodologies
Demonstrated qualities of leadership, sensitivity to cultural setting, commitment, and sound judgment.
Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with people across cultures, school partners, parents and staff
Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects, ability to organize, plan and prioritize work tasks
Ability to work independently and within a small multi-disciplinary team, asking for assistance when needed and collaborating with other team members
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Strong program and budget management skills, planning, reporting and analytical skills
Experience working with diverse communities domestically and abroad
Multi-lingual with Spanish, French, Arabic, or other languages preferred

Flexible work schedule to accommodate LitWorld programming domestically and abroad
Must understand and commit to LitWorld’s core philosophies, principles and mission
Willingness to travel at least 25% of your time
Ability to connect on a personal level with individuals of various backgrounds and life experiences
Sensitivity towards communities and individuals of different backgrounds, origins, genders, ethnicities, education levels, orientations, and socioeconomic situations
