WRAD Educator’s Guide
On the 15th Anniversary of World Read Aloud Day, we celebrate all the ways we tell stories! Use the following resources to get your classroom ready for World Read Aloud Day 2026.
Kate Messner’s Virtual Author Read-Alouds
Kate Messner, WRADvocate and author of over 40 children’s books, celebrates World Read Aloud Day each year by compiling a list of author volunteers to spend part of the day doing quick virtual read-aloud visits with classrooms around the world to share the joy of stories.
Whether you’re a teacher or librarian looking to host a read-aloud or an author looking to read your works aloud, visit her site to learn more!
Multicultural Story Resources
Stories play a critical role in shaping how we see the world. However, like most media, much of children’s literature has been limited by focusing predominately on white characters and narratives, with few opportunities for children to engage in diverse experiences.
We encourage you to celebrate all cultures and stories with these resources. By reading these stories and sharing them, we can build community, create equality, and help amplify voices that are all too often silenced.
