On February 5th, 2025, Dweck Auditorium in the Central Branch of the Brooklyn Public Library was filled with the giggles of very excited students. On the stage, Scholastic author/illustrator Ross Burach (the celebrated mind behind The Very Impatient Caterpillar series) led 120 fourth and fifth graders through the process of drawing the titular character of the book he’d just read aloud. These students had traveled all the way from PS6x in the Bronx for a very special celebration of the 15th anniversary of World Read Aloud Day.

Calling Runners in NYC: Run for LitWorld!
Dear LitWorld Friend,
We are honored to have been invited to participate as a charity partner in this year’s United Airlines NYC Half, an annual race that attracts more than 24,000 runners, and is hosted by New York Road Runners.
At LitWorld, our mission is to strengthen kids and communities through the power of stories, a mission that aligns with New York Road Runners' vision to build healthier lives and stronger communities through the transformative power of running.
Are YOU interested in supporting LitWorld’s mission while meeting that New Year’s resolution? Let us help! We have 5 bibs available for serious runners ready to participate in the marathon and peer-to-peer fundraising on behalf of LitWorld.
One Month to World Read Aloud Day!
Happy New Year! As we welcome 2025, we’re gearing up to celebrate 15 years of uniting book lovers and eager readers. In 2010, LitWorld founded World Read Aloud Day™, and we’re so proud of the global movement it’s become.
Mark your calendars for February 5th, 2025, and join millions of readers from all over the world as we uplift the power of stories and advocate for literacy as a foundational human right.
