Join LitWorld On #GivingTuesday to Fund LitCamp for 500 Children

On Tuesday, December 3, 2013, LitWorld will celebrate our first #GivingTuesday, a social media campaign dedicated to giving that is becoming as universally recognized as “Black Friday,” “Small Business Saturday,” and “CyberMonday." #Giving Tuesday is a movement that celebrates and encourages the idea of giving back, and practicing better and smarter giving during the holiday season.

LitWorld's #GivingTuesday campaign is centered around our LitCamp program. On December 3rd our goal is to raise enough money to send 500 children to LitCamp. It only takes $34.92 to send a child to LitCamp for one week, and it only takes one week to boost literacy skills while creating joyful, everlasting memories founded on the magic of story and the power of a supportive literacy culture. These memories build resilience and hope, and show children what transformational literacy looks and feels like, inspiring them to use their own stories to change the outcome of their future.

Starting today, share any of the sample social media posts below to spread the word to your family and friends. Together we can make this #GivingTuesday dream come true!

LitWorld Launches Story21: Technology for 21st Century Learning

LitWorld has launched a family LitClub program called Story21 with our partner in Harlem, Broadway Housing Communities, to provide tablet technology, mentorship, and guidance to families as they embark on the path to 21st century literacy. Using the LitClub model, Story21 will integrate the power of story and personal narrative with apps and technology to engage families in literacy growth.

We are tremendously grateful for generous donations from Storypanda and SNAP! Learning and Scholastic. SNAP! donated a subscription to their ebook collection, providing ebooks that children and their caregivers will read together to build lasting, joyful memories. Storypanda donated book apps that allow children to read and then creatively manipulate picture books. Scholastic donated an incredible 300 Storia eBooks from their trove of children's literature. We cannot wait to use both of these in our upcoming sessions. Visit the LitClub blog to follow our Story21 journey.
