The Story Seeds Podcast

This World Read Aloud Day, discover the magic of storytelling in all forms with The Story Seeds Podcast! Story Seeds brings kids from ages 6-13 together with their favorite authors, who help them grow their ideas into a story. In each episode, authors and kids collaborate to show the magic that happens when adults make time to deeply listen to young people.

Kate Messner’s Virtual Author Read-Alouds

Kate Messner, WRADvocate and author of more than 40 children’s books, celebrates World Read Aloud Day each year by compiling a list of author volunteers to spend part of the day doing quick virtual read-aloud visits with classrooms around the world to share the joy of stories.

Whether you’re a teacher or librarian looking to host a read-aloud or an author looking to read your works aloud, visit her site to learn more!

Multicultural Story Resources

Stories play a critical role in shaping who we are and how we see the world. However, like most media, much of children’s literature has been limited by focusing predominately on white characters and white narratives, with few opportunities for children to share, engage in, or relate to diverse experiences.

This World Read Aloud Day, we encourage you to celebrate all cultures and stories with the resources below. By reading these stories and sharing them with others, we can build community, create equality, and help amplify voices that are all too often silenced.
